DIY Holiday Tire Wreath

The holidays are officially in full swing! This year is all about upcycling and eye-popping minimalism. Time to rummage through your garage, shed, or basement and bring new life to unconventional items with the Flex Seal® Family of Products. In just a few easy steps, Flex Seal and the Crafty Lumberjacks transformed an old tire from a bike into colorful Seasonal decor!

Materials

● 1 can, Flex Seal, green

● 1 can, Flex Seal, red

● 1 tube, Flex Glue Clear

● 1 Large Tire

● 3 Large Bells

● 2 Wrenches

● Twine

● Festive Ribbon

● Large Festive Bow

● Floral Wire

● Wire Cutters

● Blade

● Tarp

Steps

1. Spray the Tire with Flex Seal

Note: Please read all directions carefully

In a well-ventilated area, lay down a tarp and place the tire on top. Holding the Flex Seal® green, begin to spray 8” to 12” inches from the surface. Use even sweeping motions, covering the entire surface. Make sure to spray both the outside and inside of the tire. Don’t worry too much about the back unless it will be hung in a spot where it will be seen.

Once you’re happy with the outcome, set to dry.

2. Spray the Wrenches with Flex Seal Colors

Next, place the wrenches on the tarp. Holding the Flex Seal red, begin to spray 8” to 12” inches from the wrenches surface using smooth sweeping motions. Cover each side completely. Once happy with the outcome, set to dry.

3. Tie-in Some Festive Flourishes

Thread twine through the top of each bell and festive ribbon through the wrenches to hang. Vary the lengths of the ribbon and twine, so they fall in the center of the tire. Gather all the pieces together and then stagger them until they create an organic, cascading effect. Once you are happy with the design, secure the gathered pieces together tightly with a piece of floral wire. Make sure to leave some extra wire to hang.

Flexpert Tip: No bells? No problem! Upside down small plastic flowerpots look a lot like bells and would be a great substitution.

4. Glue Flourishes to the Tire

Carefully use a pair of scissors or a blade to cut a small hole/slit in the top of the tire. Thread the extra floral wire attached to the bells through the cut hole. Pull the wire through until the top of the gathered twine and ribbon is hidden inside the tire. Wrap the wire around the top of the tire and use any extra wire to help hang. Use Flex Glue Clear® to secure the wire to the tire for a super-strong hold.

5. Glue on Bow

Use a large store-bought bow or make your own using wide ribbon. Use Flex Glue Clear® to secure the bow into place at the top center of the tire above the bells. Make sure to apply firm pressure for 10-30 seconds.

6. Hang

Ta-da! Time to hang using wire or a wreath hook! Thanks to Flex Seal, Flex Glue, and a little holiday creativity, you too can have a festive Flex Seal DIY wreath that’s perfect for a busy North Pole workshop.
