Getting Ready to Use Flex Caulk

IMPORTANT:  Before using Flex Caulk, read all directions carefully and take proper safety precautions, such as being in a well-ventilated area and wearing protective gear while applying.

1. Prepare Your Surface

Before applying Flex Caulk, it is important to prep the application site. Remove any previous caulk with a caulk removal tool that won't damage the surface, such as a plastic putty knife. Once the old caulk has been removed, thoroughly clean the area to remove any grease, dirt, or debris. Flex Caulk can be applied to wet or damp surfaces, but dry surfaces are ideal.

2. Remove Safety Tab and Snap and Save Cap

To open Flex Caulk, you’ll need to remove the red safety tab. Next, take off the Snap and Save Cap located on the nozzle. Flex Caulk’s Snap and Save Cap is designed to help prevent the product from drying out, so don’t throw it away. Once you’re finished using Flex Caulk, make sure to replace the cap so you can use our product again and again.

Flexpert Tip: Flex Caulk’s nozzle is already pre-cut and ready to go.

3. Adjust the Trigger Flow Nozzle

One of the stand-out features of Flex Caulk is its Adjustable Trigger Flow Nozzle, which allows you to change the size of your bead of caulk. If you look at the top of the Trigger Flow Nozzle, you’ll see the words “min” and “max,” which indicate the flow setting. By turning the Trigger Flow Nozzle one way or the other, you’ll be able to adjust the flow of the caulk. The flow setting, along with the speed at which you apply Flex Caulk, controls the thickness of the bead.

As you turn towards the “max,” the trigger flow becomes wider and the flow becomes stronger.

As you turn the trigger nozzle towards the minimum position, it reduces the flow of the caulk.

When you turn the trigger flow nozzle all the way past the minimum position, it’s now in the off position and nothing will come out.

Flexpert Tip: If you want an even thicker bead than the maximum setting, you can always cut the tip of the Trigger Flow Nozzle larger.

How To Apply Flex Caulk

  1. Determine the size of the bead you’d like to apply and do a test application on a piece of scrap material.
  2. For a perfect bead, hold Flex Caulk at a 45-degree angle, push the trigger and start moving your hand.
  3. Using a smooth, even motion, caulk the desired area. When you release your finger, the flow of Flex Caulk will stop.

You can smooth Flex Caulk with a finger or caulk tool for up to 10-20 minutes after applying, depending on temperature and humidity. Flex Caulk will fully cure in approximately 12-24 hours.

Can I Apply Flex Caulk on Wet Surfaces or Underwater?

Yes, Flex Caulk is 100% waterproof and works underwater and on wet surfaces. It will even cure under water.

How Long Does Flex Caulk Take to Dry?

Once Flex Caulk is exposed to air, moisture, or humidity, it begins to cure, forming a skin within about 10-20 minutes. Flex Caulk fully cures in approximately 12-24 hours.

How Do I Clean up Flex Caulk?

When cleaning up uncured Flex Caulk, don’t use water. Instead, use a clean dry cloth, rag or paper towel. Mineral spirits and denatured alcohol will help speed up the process of cleaning up your area and tools.

How Do I Store Flex Caulk?

When it's time to put away your Flex Caulk, just replace the Snap and Save Cap. This will help keep your Flex Caulk fresh. However, if the caulk does dry out inside the white nozzle, unscrew the nozzle, clean it out, and screw it back on. Always store Flex Caulk in a cool, dry environment.

And there you have it. Now you’re ready to use Flex Caulk safely and properly for all sorts of DIY projects and repairs. For additional questions or concerns, please visit our FAQ page or contact customer service at 833-411-3539.
