How to Properly Apply Flex Shot
Flex Shot delivers a thick, waterproof seal without the need for a caulking gun; however, proper application is essential for best results. Whether you’re sealing areas in a bathroom, around windows, or on a boat, following these steps will make a difference.
1. Prep the Surface
Remove any old sealant, dirt, loose debris, or grease from the area, ensuring the surface is clean and dry. Proper preparation allows Flex Shot to bond more effectively and create a stronger seal.
2. Position the Nozzle
Hold the tube at a 45-degree angle and place the nozzle directly over the gap or seam you want to seal. Flex Shot comes with an extension tube, which can be cut to adjust the bead size – the lower you go, the larger the bead.
3. Press the Trigger
Apply consistent pressure to dispense the product while moving your arm in a slow, even motion. When you’re ready to stop the flow, release the pressure.
4. Smooth the Seal
With a gloved finger or smoothing tool, press the sealant into the gap with the same motion you used while applying. Flex Shot begins to form a skin approximately 20 minutes after application and fully cures within 24 hours.
Flexpert Tip: Working in short sections helps maintain better control, resulting in cleaner, more uniform lines.
Flex Shot is designed to stay flexible once cured, helping prevent cracking or shrinking over time. It’s excellent for high-moisture areas like tubs, showers, sinks, windows, doors, and marine applications. For more application tips and product details, check out our blog.
