Can Flex Tape fix a leaky hose?

A sudden leak in a garden hose can feel like an emergency. Flex Tape is our super-strong, waterproof adhesive tape that can instantly stop many types of leaks, but can it fix a leaky hose?

Flex Tape is not designed to stop a leak in a hose under pressure. It will not stop a leak for any inline as those hoses are under constant pressure, however, it should work for most waste lines.

Flex Tape can work as a temporary fix for:

  • A drainage or vacuum hose with surface cracks.

  • Non-pressurized connections or fittings where water seeps but doesn’t spray.

Flex Tape is not recommended for high-pressure applications such as:

  • Hoses under constant, heavy water pressure, such as garden, washer or power washer hoses.

  • Spraying leaks, where water force prevents proper adhesion.

  • Permanent repairs on any pressurized water lines

In these cases, the pressure may weaken the bond over time or cause the tape to peel or shift. Flex Tape should be considered a short-term, emergency solution, not a substitute for hose replacement or professional-grade repairs.

To use Flex Tape effectively:

  1. Turn off the water supply.

  1. Cut a piece of Flex Tape large enough to cover the leak with extra surface area.

  1. Apply it with pressure, smoothing it down to eliminate bubbles or gaps.

  1. For extra strength, wrap multiple layers around the damaged area.

If you’re in a pinch and need to stop a hose from leaking, Flex Tape can help buy you time until you get a permanent fix.
